Covering eight counties in North Central Pennsylvania, Area X was organized in 1998 by Pat Eck. Many of its wrestlers have gone on to have high school and college success. Pat lead the Area for ten years then passed the torch onto Skyler Fry, the current head wrestling coach at Penn College. After running two very successful PJW State Championships, Sky moved on to Penn College and Tom Ott was voted in as Chairman. During Tom's years as the Chairman he built the Area tournaments participation to a record high; so high, in fact PJW decided to split the Area into two areas to allow more wrestlers a chance to compete at the State Championships. In 2013 Tom nominated Brian Nasdeo as his successor, and he was confirmed at the end of 2013. Today we are working on expanding on the success Pat began. In the past few years we have added two more tournament series to go along with our very successful youth wrestling series. In 2014, Area X was part of the PJW expansion into the Jr. High State Championships for wrestlers in 7th-9th grades. Also in 2014, Area X added the Futures Championships to its portfolio to serve wrestlers age 7 and under with up to two years of experience. Finally, in 2018 Area X and PJW started a Girls State Series with twelve weights. We are very excited to welcome the girls division and build our sport. Area X is working hard to provide an excellent wrestling experience for wrestlers of all youth ages and experience levels. We truly believe that PJW Wrestling is preparation for making the podium at Hershey and beyond!
